The ever-growing population of the country is rapidly increasing the burden on the environment. There is increased pressure on natural resources such as lakes, rivers, forests, wildlife, etc. This plays a pivotal role in the Indian lifestyle and is not suitable for the underlying ecosystem.

Indians have slowly realized that pollution is an inconvenient by-product causing environmental degradation; it is also a fundamental threat to our country's economic and social growth and development.

Forest covers the second largest area in India, next to agriculture. India stands 3rd in the world for an annual net gain in terms of forest area. Forests play a significant role in mitigating the impacts of climate change, providing economic benefits for the country, and meeting specific facets of India's sustainable development goals. Therefore, it is vital to revisit India's forest development and assess its forest conservation and restoration efforts.

Environment and Forest Development

The 2019 Biennial India State of Forest reports show that India has increased 24.56 per cent in its total forest and tree cover.

The primary concern of the Humanity Welfare Council is to implement policies and programs to conserve the ecosystem, natural resources, welfare of animals, protection of the forests, and prevention of pollution, which are hampering the progress of our nation.

As India has already established a market for green goods/services, it has an enormous scope to develop into a giant green market with ease in the coming years. Several advantages range from knowledge spillovers to economies of scale. We are helping initiate some reforms for the full-scale development of this sector as a whole.

Policies and programs for afforestation and reforestation are pursued across the Indian states, with:
  1. National Mission on Green India,
  2. National Afforestation Programme,
  3. Compensatory Afforestation,
  4. and Plantation Drives.
IMPORTANCE OF ENVIRONMENT: -
Environment and Forest Development
  • 1

Humanity’s entire life support system depends upon the well being of all the environmental factors.

  • 2

The environment gives us fundamental elements such as water, air (most important Co2 and 02) Sunlight, soil which supports the earth.

  • 3

The environment includes living as well as non-living things that interact with each other and form an ecosystem.

  • 4

The environment is the key to the existence of life on earth.

  • 5

Another reason the environment is important is that it is a source of aesthetic value.

Here are specific initiatives taken for conservation and protection of flora and fauna, control of pollution, and sustainable growth and development of the environment, such as:
  1. The Indian Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 was implemented to protect biodiversity, which prohibited the trade of endangered and rare species.
  2. Implemented wetland conservation and management rule of 2010 to protect wetlands in India.
  3. Wildlife crime control bureau has been set up to inspect illegal trading of wildlife.
  4. The Government of India initiated Project Tiger in 1972 and Project Elephant in 1992.
  5. The 2002 Biological Diversity Act to protect biological diversity in India.

What Do We Do?

The Humanity Welfare Council has pledged to stand by our country and boost our economy and demolish the pebbles of environmental and forest destruction in the pathway of success. We are taking the following measures:

  1. To increase awareness regarding the significance of our natural resources and prevent their depletion at ground level.
  2. To take steps concerning disaster management.
  3. Management of waste by instructing to drain chemical waste in safer ways avoiding damage to wildlife and humans.
  4. Protection of flora and fauna.
  5. Introduction of policies for maintaining a sustainable environment.

With the joint efforts of our team and the public, we can make this planet a safer place to live. We can build a world where humans, wildlife, and forests all get their share of the earth to live and breathe a sigh of relief without any pollution or fear of diseases.

Let's all join hands together to make the earth beautiful and liveable.

Acidic rain, deforestation, global warming, hunting, pollution, and soil erosion are few of the biggest threats to the environment in today's world.
